Caught in the crossfire:
This is the street corner memorial to nine year-old Trina Persad who was killed by a stray bullet fired by a gang member one year ago.
Last night, on the anniversity of Persard's death, a three year old in Dorchester was hit by a stray bullet fired by a man in an argument on the street. The child, Kai Leigh Harriet, was hit in the spine as she sat on her family’s third floor porch. She is in critical condition and is expected to remain paralyzed.
Officers from the Boston Police homicide unit, the gang unit, and uniform and plain clothes officers worked through the night, following up on tips supplied by the people in the neighborhood to catch the shooter. As a result of that hardwork and cooperation, the suspect was behind bars before the sun came up.
