I don't care, I still like the iTunes Music Store despite the fact that it hasn't been a bonanza for artists.
The music industry has been ripping off consumers for years. Where were the artists' complaints when crappy remixes were released on CD, followed by an "improved" mix a few years later, and then an even better sounding mix a couple of years after that. We're used to being ripped off and artists have been complicit in sucking fans dry. (I won't even get into concert prices and merchandising.)
Now it's tilting more towards the consumer. Lower the prices and raise the convenience. That's all.
If new artists want to organize and offer their music directly to consumers over the internet, that would be a good thing. But iTunes isn't stopping them from doing that. In fact, nothing is.
