Abuse of authority:
Stephen Hrones' M.O. in criminal trials is to make outrageous, incendiary statements in the press (often way off-base) concerning the opposing-side's motives. And that's just the stuff he does on-record. (I wonder how many reporters have gotten 'not for attribution' calls with tips on juicy scandals involving Hrones opponents?)
Well, that's life. It's his style. Those are the rules of the game and there's not much anyone can do about it except criticize him back. It's a free country.
Everyone seems to know all this but Hrones who, ironically, when he was criticized and his motives were publicly questioned, filed a libel lawsuit. That lawsuit is now officially dismissed.
Did Hrones expect the libel suit to have been sucessful? Not likely. You would have to be pretty dense to think that this would be the way to vindicate yourself against public criticism.
But he would know that the party he was suing would have to obtain and pay for legal counsel, lose time at work, etc. Being a lawyer himself, it wouldn't cost Hrones much of anything to bring the suit. So the other side would lose regardless of the outcome.
When a cop writes a vindictive ticket and, knowing you have to lose a day at work, tells you to fight it in court, there's a term for that. And, there's a term for this.
