Ellen Goodman writes about "presenteeism." You know, the opposite of absenteeism. It's about coming to work when you're sick and should be home in bed. The problem, she thinks, is not enough sick leave. The problem, I think, is that there may be enough sick leave, but using it cuts into vacation and discretionary time off.
Who wants to be sick on a day off? Not me. I'd rather be at work.
