Extraordinarily naive:

Republicans think that Democrats are bound to allow Bush's Supreme Court nominee because the deal among the bipartisan 'gang of 14' prohibits a filibuster on judicial nominees unless "extraordinary circumstances" exist. (Extraordinary circumstances in this case are not just objections to ideology but must involve questions of ethics or qualification.)

That sounds to me like wishful thinking. Qualification and ethics are, after all, in the eye of the beholder.
