New wave nostalgia:

I could never understand that through the 80s and into the 90s (and in many parts of the country, even today) people, especially young people, stayed musically stuck in the 70s. For me, there was just too much good new music available, like Graham Parker and Elvis Costello, to live in the past. But there were (and still are) radio stations with REO Speedwagon and Kansas in heavy rotation -years after those old warhorses dissolved away.

So it is with apologies to Carpundit that I have to admit that I am guilty of living in the past when it comes to my taste in cars. Although I tend to be practical in what I drive, (a VW Jetta wagon) I really covet the latest version of the old Mustang.

Maybe it's a mid-life, reliving the past thing, but there are no new models on the road that make me stop, stare and drool like that car does. (Then again, I suppose I could picture myself in one of those newfangled Solstices.)
